Washing Your Car the right way.

Not only is washing your car the old fashion way(a bucket of soap and a water hose) illegal in the United States, but it is environmentally unfriendly. The waste water of a tradional car wash contains 100 to 10,000 ppm of hydrocarbons that runs into the drain or soil. This causes major pollution for the water run offs that lead into streams and the ocean. It was also made illegal by the 1972 Clean Water Act.

Recently, the City of Los Angeles passed the Storm water and Urban Runoff Pollution Control Ordinance, Calabasas enacted its own Mobile Car Wash Ordinance, and San Diego passed legislation on its own Clean Water Act. It is inevitable, but more waste water acts will be coming to cities near you..

There are two ways to wash your car the right way.

The expensive way is to do what mobile detailers do. They put down mats with berms and suck up the water into a storage tank. They dispose of it properly later. The alternative way is to not use water at all.
